Al Falasi: Union Coop supported around 318 educational establishments during the past 6 years

Al Bastaki: Kafoo program provides purchase cards of AED 3,000 for academically outstanding students

UAE, Dubai, September 9, 2017:

Union Coop, the largest cooperative in the UAE, honored 377 academically outstanding students of shareholders’ children as part of “Kafoo” program. The event is Held at the Cultural & Scientific Association in Dubai, the recognition falls within the framework of the Union Coop’s goals of implementing strategic plans to ensure shareholders happiness.

The outstanding students were honored by His Excellency Majid Hamad Rahma Al Shamsi member of the National Federation Council and Chairman of Union Coop’s board of directors, Dr. Mansoor Al Awar, Chancellor of HBMSU, Khalifa Hassan aldrai Executive Director of Dubai Corporation Ambulance Services, Major-General Dr. Ahmad Eid Al Mansouri, Director-General of Dubai police’s Forensic Science and Criminology Department and HE Ghaya Al Muhairi, Chairman of Dubai Education Zone ,the ceremony was also attended by a large gathering of students’ parents.

In a speech delivered at the event, His Excellency Majid Hamad Rahma Al Shamsi said that the wise leadership following the directives of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, provided the finest and most modern education methods in the world to follow the footsteps of the founding fathers and raise a generation capable of keeping up with the future and its challenges. Strong, solid, and armed with science, knowledge, and development.

Al Shamsi went on to say that the leadership is putting great hopes on this generation as shown by launching the “Post-Oil initiative” to affirm the depth of the national vision regarding building a new generation that can rely on a diverse & competitive economy with a strong presence in the advanced world’s economies. This was driven by the leadership’s belief in the important role of science as a key resource for people that make their lives valuable and gives them purpose.

Supporting 318 Educational Establishments

For his part, His Excellency Khalid Humaid Bin Diban Al Falasi said: “Union Coop has supported around 318 educational and cultural establishments during the past 6 years with a total sum of AED 6.195 million. We believe that education is the basis of all prosperity and development, and is the main road towards achieving Union Coop’s goals which are based on joint action and cooperation to realize further milestones on all levels.”

He also pointed out that each year, the Happiness and Marketing Department at Union Coop is instructed to increase allocations for the education sector and to work towards supporting the largest possible number of educational establishments materially and morally, or adopting various cultural and educational initiatives to contribute towards pushing forward the process of development and building an educational system with solid scientific bases.

AED 3,000 Purchase cards
Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of the Happiness and Marketing Department at Union Coop, said that the new Kafoo program for shareholders, which offers purchase cards of AED 3,000 values for academically outstanding students with a budget of AED 1.131 million, affirms the strategic values adopted by Union Coop and its full compatibility with the wide leadership’s vision. This initiative stems from its belief that the private sector is a strategic partner in the development of countries, and this confirms its commitment as a national economic entity contributing to investing in human capitals as the pillar of a brighter future.
