The Number of UAE Nationals working with Union Coop reached 360 as of September 2019 beginning. 50000 training hours deployed towards the betterment of employees.

The largest Consumer Cooperative in the UAE – ‘Union Coop’ revealed a 32% Emiratization overall, while the Emiratization rate in senior positions alone reported 73%. As of September 2019 beginning, the total number of UAE Nationals working at Union Coop reached 360.
Highlighting Union Coop’s commitment towards the Directives of UAE’s wise leadership, Mr. Ahmed Bin Kenaid, Director of Human Resources and Emiratization at Union Coop said: “The Board of Directors and Management of Union Coop pays great importance to Emiratization, as we believe it is one of the most important steps towards national human resources development. Therefore, Union Coop directive of raising the 32% to 35% by the end of 2019 comes in line with directives of the wise leadership in this regard”
Talking about setting examples for others in the field of Emiratization, He further points out that: “Union Coop has had great achievements in terms of financial performance, social responsibility, physical expansion, but all this will not be complete without excellence in the process of Emiratization model, where Union Coop set an example to the rest of the private sector companies. All the aforementioned efforts from Union Coop fall within the framework of supporting and strengthening the aspirations of the wise leadership to promote success and excellence of the UAE.
On the challenges part, Bin Kenaid stresses on the major challenges facing the Emiratization in the private sector in general and Retail trade, in particular, saying “the discouraging Pension system, the demanding jobs and long working hours are the mains challenges facing Emiratization in the private sector”
Highlighting Union Coop’s dominance in Emiratization, Bin Kenaid said: “Union Coop is one of the best private entities in the UAE in terms of working environment and a firm that provides all possibilities for employees in general, for creativity and excellence in the field of work, and organizes several initiatives, programs and activities that contribute to their development and instill an idea that Union Coop is not just an organization but an interdependent family.”
He further added: “Union Coop worked to amend the policies and procedures for citizens permanently as same as the policies active in federal and local government agencies, and provide many advantages for its employees, with encouragement and constant motivation to continue academic endeavors, provide flexible work environment in terms of policies and procedures (such as student recruitment, early exit hours, flexible working hours), in addition to providing the training associated with the career path that qualifies them for career development opportunities within the company. Additionally, organizing initiatives to delight the members of Union Coop family.”

50000 training hours
Talking about the training programs conducted by Union Coop, Bin Kenaid highlighted: “Union Coop has organized over 663 training programs with a total of 50,000 training hours, to enhance the skills of its employees and update their knowledge about everything new in the world of the retail industry.”
