Dubai, UAE:
Union Coop recently participated in the third Hatta Agricultural Forum, as part of its commitment to supporting the national “Plant the Emirates” program. This involvement aims to bolster local agriculture and promote Emirati agricultural products through various initiatives.
Mr. Yaqoob Al Blooshi, Fresh Category Trade Department Manager at Union Coop, represented the Cooperative at the festival, which convened numerous specialists, stakeholders, and local farmers. Discussions included key elements to support farmers in Hatta, initiatives for the 2024 season, and strategies for marketing and distributing fresh produce from the region. Standards for agricultural products, particularly in packaging and presentation, were also a focal point.
In his remarks, Mr. Al Blooshi emphasized Union Coop’s dedication to the “Plant the Emirates” program, highlighting the alignment of this initiative with the Coop’s strategy to foster the UAE’s agricultural sector and contribute to sustainable food security—a priority for the nation’s wise leadership.
Mr. Al Blooshi further encouraged farm owners to adhere to high standards in product packaging and presentation. He noted that Union Coop has established a comprehensive database for farmers, outlining the most in-demand local products and providing key product specifications to meet market standards. In support of this, Union Coop has designated special sections within its branches to showcase Hatta-grown products, reinforcing its commitment to local farms and the growth of domestic production.
The forum, he noted, is a vital platform for supporting agricultural entrepreneurs, enhancing commercial and investment opportunities in Hatta, and promoting sustainable business practices that strengthen the supply and marketing of Emirati agricultural products.
