Union Coop Attends Meeting for the National Program “Plant the Emirates” Organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment
The Minister of Climate Change and Environment, highlighted in her welcoming remarks the importance of collaborating with the private sector enterprises, a key pillar of the UAE’s efforts in the development of the agriculture sector.

Dubai based retailer, Union Coop recently participated in a preliminary meeting for the national program ” Plant the Emirates.” organized by the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment. The event brought together major private sector players operating to discuss collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing the sector’s role in supporting the program’s objectives and initiatives in the upcoming phase, focusing on sustainable food security for the UAE.
Mr. Yaqoob Al Blooshi, Fresh Category Trade Dept. Manager, represented Union Coop in the meeting, which was also attended by H.E. Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, and several ministry officials.
The meeting highlighted the key responsibilities and functions of the National Agriculture Center and its role in supporting Emirati farmers and local farms to boost domestic production. Discussions also focused on ways to collaborate with the private sector to enhance its contribution to the national program “Plant the Emirates.”
During the open discussion, Mr. Yaqoob Al Blooshi emphasized that Union Coop has numerous current and future programs and plans to support Emirati farmers and fresh produce cultivated in the UAE, including organic products. He noted that Union Coop continually strives to leverage its investment capabilities to bolster local agricultural production, positioning itself as a key player in supporting sustainable food security in the UAE.
