Union Coop urges people to re-prioritize their purchasing pattern

Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness and Marketing Department at the Union Coop Dubai, said that the consumption patterns of individuals in light of the current pandemic have changed significantly. Many of the basic needs before the pandemic have become today’s luxury, highlighting the need to reprioritize; to contribute to the sustainability of resources and the preservation of material resources for members of society. He added: In the past, the best consumption patterns were shopping ‘weekly’ and the necessity of not bulk-storing goods. For now, we recommend monthly shopping instead of weekly, especially for non-perishable products and a long-term validity, to maintain social distance for the safety and health of consumers, and not to go out except if it is necessary, to contribute to limiting the spread of the Coronavirus.

He pointed out that the consumption pattern changes according to the current data and conditions, and in Ramadan, every year the sales witness increase and this year it coincided with the change in consumer habits, so monthly shopping became the best, in the interest of public health, and thus sales percentage increased according to our expectations and field studies; Whereas, Union Coop prepared well to provide goods and products during the month of Ramadan, through precautionary steps in advance, including contracting with a large number of suppliers; to provide quantities exceeding the requirements of community members.
