Dubai Endowment and Union Coop to Support the SANED Card Initiative
The Endowments and Minors’ Trust Foundation in Dubai (AWQAF Dubai) and Union Coop have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to support the funding of the SANED Card initiative, which aims to assist eligible groups registered with Dubai’s Community Development Authority. These groups include orphans, widows, senior citizens, people of determination, and low-income individuals.
Under the agreement, Awqaf Dubai will provide annual funding of AED 2 million for five years to finance the SANED Card. In return, Union Coop will contribute an additional 10% of the card’s value through supplementary cards.
The MoU also stipulates that Union Coop will contribute AED 1 million annually over five years to the SANED Endowment Project, a sustainable initiative that ensures continuous funding for issuing grocery cards to low-income families.
The MoU was signed by Ali Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of AWQAF Dubai, and Mohamed Al Hashemi, CEO of Union Coop, in the presence of representatives from both organizations.
Ali Al-Mutawa emphasized the authority’s commitment to supporting the SANED Card as part of its strategy to empower beneficiaries of social aid, enhance their quality of life, and improve the living conditions of orphans, widows, people of determination, senior citizens, and those with limited income.
He highlighted that the authority aims to contribute to Dubai’s social agenda by launching community initiatives and establishing sustainable endowments. Al-Mutawa also noted that Awqaf Dubai allocated approximately AED 22.5 million last year to support social affairs and general charitable causes, benefitting low-income groups.
Mohamed Al Hashemi, CEO of Union Coop, stated that this partnership reflects Union Coop’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and supporting the most vulnerable groups in the community. He added that collaborating with Awqaf Dubai will help achieve sustainable development goals and strengthen joint efforts to provide support to SANED Card beneficiaries, ultimately improving their living standards.
