Dubai International Chamber concludes trade mission in Istanbul with 243 bilateral business meetings between companies from Dubai and Türkiye

Union Coop announced a successful collaboration with several Turkish and Serbian companies during its recent participation in a trade mission organized by the Dubai International Chamber in Istanbul. The mission aimed to bolster economic relations between the two countries. Mr. Mohamed Al Hashemi, CEO of Union Coop, noted that meetings held with approximately 55 Turkish and Serbian companies yielded positive results, opening doors for cooperation to introduce new products to the UAE market.

Al Hashemi explained that these meetings significantly shortened the typical six-month negotiation period to just one day, highlighting the diversity of the companies and types of products as a key factor in enhancing future collaboration.

He confirmed that this partnership paves the way for importing new food products, such as spices, cheeses, fruits, and vegetables from Turkey, which will help reduce import costs and provide competitive pricing for consumers.

Al Hashemi emphasized that collaboration with Türkiye and Serbia will contribute to enhancing food security in the UAE by diversifying supply sources. This allows for the import of essential products from these countries in case of supply chain disruptions with other nations. He added that these agreements will improve price competitiveness in the local market, especially given the reliance on multiple sourcing.

He further explained that the agreements will require some time to finalize, as negotiations on prices and supply terms are currently underway. He anticipates adding approximately 200 new products to Union Coop’s product lineup in the coming period.
