Commercial centers, malls, and retail stores are experiencing a significant surge in foot fall as shoppers take advantage of the major promotions offered for New Year celebrations. These promotions have contributed to a remarkable sales growth of up to 100% compared to regular days.

Shopping centers, department stores, and entertainment venues across various Emirates have attracted thousands of residents and tourists, offering them both entertainment and discounted products. Experts and officials told Al-Bayan that the New Year’s promotions coincided with the school holidays and the start of the winter season sales.

They pointed out that shopping centers, malls, and retail stores are witnessing a major increase in customer activity, as people take full advantage of these sales and discounts. Experts confirmed that the UAE sees an increase in tourist numbers around this time each year, leading to a significant boost in shopping and sales.

Significant Activity

Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Chief Community Relations Officer at Union Coop, confirmed that commercial shopping centers and malls are seeing a marked increase in activity during this period, coinciding with the end of the year and New Year celebrations. He noted that spending levels are expected to rise considerably, with variations from one store to another, driven by large promotional offers and seasonal discounts, covering various products such as clothing, electronics, cosmetics, and household goods, which are key factors in attracting shoppers.

He added that the end-of-year promotions in each store enhance the shopping experience and contribute significantly to increased customer turnout. He emphasized that this period is one of the most important seasons for sales growth, as shoppers look to capitalize on attractive offers, particularly during the New Year celebrations. Dr. Al Bastaki predicted strong sales growth and highlighted that the Union Coop had rolled out end-of-year campaigns offering discounts of up to 60%.
