Dubai, UAE:
Retail markets have recently witnessed competitive promotions among outlets, featuring extensive discounts on various types of fruits and vegetables at varying rates.
Consumers have welcomed the increase in discounts on fruits and vegetables, considering them a positive trend, as these items are essential for families. Retailers attribute the current discounts to the abundance of local seasonal supply and the diversification of imports from foreign markets. They emphasized that the increased supply from local farms has had a positive impact on price stability and the availability of promotional offers.
Most discounts have focused on specific items, such as tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, eggplants, and peppers, particularly those of local origin, as well as pomegranates, bananas, apples, oranges, and watermelons.
Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Chief Community Relations Officer at the Union Coop, told Emarat Al Youm: – “Markets have recently seen a notable abundance of supply, resulting from an increase in the procurement of locally sourced fruits and vegetables, along with a wide variety of imported items. This, in turn, has contributed to the growth of promotional offers in the markets at varying rates.”
He added: – “The heightened competition in promotions positively impacts consumers, enabling them to access suitable prices for a variety of goods.”
