Dr. Suhail Al-Bastaki, Director of the Happiness and Marketing Department, Union Coop confirmed that Union Coop has launched many qualitative initiatives to avoid overcrowding in front of the billing counter and to accelerate the pace of shopping by providing a “smart shopping cart” service in its ‘Umm Suqeim 2’ branch, which is the first smart hypermarket in Dubai, in addition to the two other branches of Etihad Mall, Mirdif and Al Barsha Mall, Al Barsha. This is to ensure that the consumer can shop in a smart and modern way from the moment he arrives until he finishes the shopping and proceeds to his parked vehicle.
He further explained that the Consumer will be assisted by the employee ‘shopper valet’ wearing a green uniform who will accompany him in various sections of the hypermarket to choose his purchases and put them in the bags and then deliver the same to his vehicle without the need to stand in the payment queue during peak shopping hours.
He added that among the initiatives by Union Coop is ‘Click and Collect’ service in the branches of – Mirdif – Etihad Mall, Al Twar, Jumeirah, Al Wasl, Al Awir, Al Barsha, Umm Suqeim and Al Warqa, where the shopper can order online and go to the nearest branch to collect the items himself.
Dr. Al Bastaki stated that the Al Warqa branch in Al Warqa City Mall was added to operate on a 24/7 basis so that Union Coop now has 4 branches working round the clock to reduce congestion and maintain precautionary measures, especially social distancing.
