Union Coop Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Emirates Talent Association supporting the ‘Local Programmer’ initiative

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Emirates Talent Association and Union Coop- Largest Coop in UAE, sighting sponsorship for the ‘Local Programmer’ Initiative of the association. In addition to enhancing the local talents, this move was in line with improving the strategic partnership between the two entities. This effort was in conjunction with the on-going ‘Year of Zayed’ initiative.
This Memorandum was signed by His Excellency Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Chairman of the HBMSU University’s Board of Governors and Chairman of the Emirates Talent Association and His Excellency Majid Hamad Rahmah Al Shamsi, Chairman of Union Coop.
This initiative will propel all the investment efforts directed towards achieving UAE Centennial Vision 2071- with respect to encouraging local talents and further investing in talents in the field of Knowledge, Innovation and Leadership. The highly acclaimed initiative is aimed towards developing generations of Emirati programmers with close interest in modern technology, and promoting the key values of innovation, cooperation among the students in terms of new technology deployment.
On the occasion of signing, H.E. Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim said, “The primary aim of the initiative is to encourage and attract talented people, improve their skills and knowledge of programming and information technology.”
He further states, “This program has been designed exclusively to boost creativity and innovation among our youths, specifically in-line with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.”
He further pointed out the difference between Union Coop and other institutions by referring to the fact that ‘Union Coop has been very graceful about the initiatives they have associated themselves with.’
HE Majid Hamad Rahmah Al Shamsi, Chairman of Union Coop said, “It’s an honor for us to be a part of this initiative because we believe in empowering the Youth. It is the youth who are the building blocks of our society, which is why we have to make sure that they are nurtured and supported well by all of us…”
The MoU will sponsor 149 Emiratis through the ‘Emirati Programmer’ and ‘HACKATHON’, that is organized by the ETA and implemented by Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU) in cooperation with Microsoft International.
The ceremony was held in the presence of officials from both sides.
