Memorandum of Understanding Signed between Dubai Municipality and Union Coop

Dubai Municipality and Union Coop – largest Consumer Coop in the UAE, sign Memorandum of Understanding to Furnish 234 of the Dubai Municipality Villas Project …

 

Dubai Municipality and Union Coop – the largest Consumer Coop in the UAE come together to sign a Memorandum of Understanding titled ‘Dubai Municipality Villas’ Project, on the sidelines of Dubai Government Achievements Exhibition (DGAE) 2018, which is being held at the Dubai World Trade Center from April 9 to 11.

The prestigious MoU aims at supporting the beneficiaries of the project through furnishing, decorating & supplying with electronic home appliances of 234 villas in the Dubai areas of Al Quoz -2 and Oud Al Muteena 1.

This MoU signifies both Dubai Municipality and Union Coop’s keenness towards participation in social development programs of community outreach and Social Responsibility programs that contribute to the happiness of members of the society.

H.E. Dawood Al Hajri, Director-General of Dubai Municipality said, “With this fruitful partnership with Union Coop, the department was keen to promote the principle of Corporate Social responsibility through the implementation of such service projects that promote this concept and serve the community by spreading happiness. Such initiatives are in line with the municipality’s vision of building a happy and sustainable city, as per the guidelines of the wise government.”

H.E. Khalid Humaid Bin Diban Al Falasi, CEO of Union Coop said, “We will be supporting this initiative by providing a support of AED 4 Million and 680 Thousand to the Dubai Municipality project. By doing this we wish to promote the vision of Corporate Social responsibility of our great leader ‘H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and ruler of Dubai.”

“We look forward to transforming the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility with a smooth transition from charitable contribution to the launch of organized development initiatives such as this from Dubai Municipality.”

He further noted, “By supporting the implementation of sustainable development initiatives, projects and programs of the Government, the private sector can also contribute to the national happiness program and towards the overall development of the environment.”

The Memorandum was signed by H.E. Khalid Humaid Bin Diban Al Falasi, CEO of Union Coop and Ahmed Obaid Al Falasi, Assistant Director-General of Dubai Municipality for Corporate Support Sector. The signing ceremony was attended by the presence of H.E. Abdulla Mohamed Al Basti- Secretary General of the UAE Cabinet, Dawood Al Hajri- Director General of Dubai Municipality, HE Majid Hamad Rahmah Al Shamsi – Chairman of Union Coop and Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki- Director of Happiness and Marketing Department and other numerous officials from both the sides.

The construction by the Municipality has already started in areas of Al Quoz and Oud Al Muteena, with a space of 1, 200 ft. per villa, with 122 villas in Oud Al Muteena-1 and 112 villas in Al Quoz -2. The building materials deployed in the project were as per the ‘green’ building specifications of Dubai Municipality, which aims to use only the best resources as finishing materials, to provide a sustainable environment for the residents. This project will see the utilization of ‘solar energy’ for water heaters & natural lighting as well.

The design of these villas is a perfect combination of modern and sophisticated styles, with distinctive finishes in line with the aesthetics of Dubai architecture. Each villa consists of two bedrooms, private bathroom, hall, and kitchen and a maid’s room. In addition to an outer wall with a height of 1.8 meters, the construction includes 234 villas, pavements and parking facilities as well.

 

The signing ceremony was attended by a number of senior officials from both sides.
