‘Union Coop’ Honors 249 Outstanding Students in Dubai

Union Coop has honoured 249 academically outstanding students — who are the children of shareholders as part of the ‘Kafoo’ programme. This academic recognition falls within the framework of Union Coop’s strategic objective to ensure shareholders happiness.
The ceremony was held in the presence of HE Lt. General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chairman of Dubai Police and head of General Security in Dubai, HE Majid Hamad Rahmah Al Shamsi, Chairman of Union Coop, HE General Mohammed Al Marri, Director General, GDRFA Dubai, HE Khalid Humaid Bin Diban Al Falasi, CEO of Union Coop and Dr Issa Al Bastaki, President of Dubai University, HE Khalifa bin Hassan Dari, Executive Director of Dubai Ambulance Services, H.E. Afra Al Basti, Member of Federal National Council, HE Ghia Al Muhairi, Director of Dubai Educational Zone and numerous other VIP officials.
Addressing the ceremony, HE Majid Hamad Rahmah Al Shamsi said, “We launched the Kafoo’ programme, believing that our nation’s foundation and real investment lies in the educated youth who are capable of achieving their dreams while staying ahead of the recent developments at the same time. The program aims at honoring the outstanding achievements of the shareholder children and contribute to the aspirations of our wise leadership H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan the President of the UAE and H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and ruler of Dubai, who have always stressed on the importance of investment in developing human resources and encourage ‘creativity, innovation and excellence.”
H.E. Khalid Humaid Bin Diban Al Falasi, CEO of Union Coop said, “Union Coop is keen to support the Education Sector in all forms. Education is one of the topmost priority of the UAE Government and We believe that it is the source of prosperity and development, of an entire nation. Our commitment towards the Kafoo program can be assessed from the fact that we have honoured about 626 students through 2 Kafoo programs in the year 2017 and 2018. A total of AED 990,000 have been spent on the program to facilitate the academic achievements of the students.”
He further highlights the role of The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May Allah Rest His Soul), the founding father of the United Arab Emirates, in placing high hopes in UAE’s young generation of talents. It is the fundamental responsibility of the National Economic entities to support the educational process wholeheartedly, which in the longer run will help achieve our goals.
