Union CO-OP & Ministry of Economy ink products fixing prices agreement
Committed to contributing meaningfully to communities where it operates, Union Co-op has singed an agreement with The Ministry of Economy to fix price of 150 commodities at cost of AED 18 million. This was announced at the press conference held at the Co-op HEADQUARTER in Al Aweer on Tuesday 10th of May.
The press conference was attended by Mr. Khalid Humaid Bin Zubian Al Falasi General Manager of Union Co-op and Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi –Director of Consumer Protection at the Ministry of Economy ,Mr Suhail Albastaki, director of marketing and communication manager and Media representative from media outlets .
In concluding the agreement, the Union-Coop is keen on launching socioeconomic programs and initiatives which aim at rendering services to the shoppers and the society as well as implementing attractive and high-value programs the consumer will benefit From.
Addressing the press conference, Mr. Al Falasi said, “ Besides fixing prices Union Coop launches many promo-campaign throughout the year to slash number of food and consumer items and provide best quality products at affordable prices for the shoppers”.
He pointed out in this context that Union Co-op has beefed up its promo-campaign 62% compared with last year.
According to him, this has been designed to provide many products and commodities to the consumer and boost the main objective of setting up the CO-OP, which aims at alleviating the burden on UAE citizens and expats.
AL Falasi added, as many as AED 20 Million has been spent by the Union-Coop on the promo- campaign since the beginning of the year of which AED 14 Million and 600 Thousand was set for reducing the prices.
He stressed the campaign will continue to provide the best offers and services to consumers.
On “Happy deal” Campaign , Al Falasi said that The number of Products which prices will be reduced in each “HAPPY DEAL” campaign ranged between 200 to 250 include food and non food products, with view to cater for the needs and the requirement of the consumer .
With regards to community contributions, Al Falasi said “Union Co-op has spent AED 75.3 Million last year on community contribution of which AED 23.9 Million for improving district affairs and 14.6 Million on Emiratization of jobs and 36.8 Million for supporting youth projects at Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Youth Entrepreneur Establishment.
He said, “This social role stems from the strategic objectives which had been adopted by the union cop and it’s keen to achieve.
In response to our prudent leadership to reach number one in different fields ,out of its believe of the importance in supporting the services provided to the members in the society. It has always been our endeavor to roll out a Coop that contributes effectively and positively that mobilizes all resources and provide the material in moral support to achieve the country’s vision”.
On Union Co-op projects, Al Falasi said “Union Co-op is planning to carry out new projects within the upcoming period in different districts in Dubai (Al Warqqa, Kawaneej, Jumeriah and Al Quoz , Nad Al Hamar and Al Tai ) which aim to provide highly sophisticated services to all the inhabitants in the Emirate” .
He pointed out the new project includes setting up shopping mall at al Warqqa at estimated cost of AED 540 Million consist of 2 basement and 2 storey , building shopping mall at al Kawaneej at estimated cost of 540 Million consist of 1 Basement and 2 storey , building shopping mall in Jumerah consists of 3 basements and two storey at estimated cost of 300 Million. Other projects also include construction of commercial cum administrative building in first al Quoz area, which will consist of underground cars park, ground floor for investment showrooms and a mezzanine on ground floor for investment offer offices.
He went on to say, “Licenses procedures have been completed and execution will begin”.
Al Falasi added that a shopping mall will be built at Nad al Hamar , and tender documents for the design works were prepared .
“A trade area was leased at Al Mamzar area for building a supermarket to render services to the residents “he said noting tender documents for building a warehouse at al TAI area were arranged.”
The move, according to him is part of the Union Coop to cover the strategic storage and make available the requirements of the branches to maintain the food security and stability”, he e said.
Initial plans have been mapped out for the establishment of showrooms at Nad Al Hamar parks to maximize benefit from the land planning limits on the ground with view to build a hypermarket to render the service to the residents”, he added.
On under construction projects, he said work is underway on three projects, the first is Abuhail “shopping mall’ which execution is expected to complete on the second mid-2017. The two-storey shopping mall will consist of an underground car parks, Fresh in 1 which is building of groceries in the mosques of the emirate in collaboration with Awqaf “Endowments and Minors Affairs” and eventually the Global city which is due to open next month, June.
