Union Coop and Silal Join Hands to Promote ‘Sustainability’

Union Coop, the leading consumer cooperative in Dubai, and Silal, have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on promoting sustainable practices in packaging fresh products and enhancing the supply chain for local agricultural produce.
The MoU was signed by Eng. Abdulla Mohammad Rafie Al Dallal, Board of Director, Union Coop and Mr. Humaid Al Rumaithi, the Chief Administration Officer at Silal. Also present were Mr Niels Groen, Chief Commercial Officer, Union Coop and Mr Sumit Gupta, Commercial Head from Silal.
This strategic partnership between Union Coop and Silal marks a significant milestone in their commitment to environmental responsibility, supporting local farmers, and providing consumers with high-quality fresh produce. The MoU outlines a framework for cooperation that will focus on several key areas of sustainability, supporting local farmers, community engagement and improvisation of agricultural practices.
The collaboration aims to reduce the environmental impact of packaging materials used for fresh products. Both Union Coop and Silal will work together to explore and implement innovative, eco-friendly packaging solutions that prioritize sustainability without compromising product quality or safety.
Union Coop is dedicated to supporting local farmers and enhancing the availability of fresh, locally sourced produce. Through this partnership, Silal will work closely with Union Coop to streamline and strengthen the supply chain, ensuring a consistent and diverse supply of high-quality agricultural products for consumers.
From Union Coop, Eng. The signing ceremony took place at the Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition (ADIFE), with representatives from both Union Coop and Silal in attendance. The MoU reflects the shared vision of both organizations to champion sustainability and support the growth of local agriculture.
