Beit Al Khair Society and Union Coop, the largest cooperative in the UAE, launched a distinctive fundraising initiative titled “Together in the Year of Zayed”. The initiative aims to promote donation for good causes through the Union’s outlets to allow community members to contribute to supporting low-income families in the country, in line with the strategic plans of both entities for the Year of Zayed.
The initiative comes in line with the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two parties at Etihad Mall. The MoU was signed by Beit Al Khair’s General Manager, Mr. Abdeen Taher Al Awadi and Mr. Harib Mohammed bin Thani, Director of Operations Division at Union Coop. The signing was also attended from Union Coop’s side by Mr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of the Happiness and Marketing Department; Mr. Shuaib Al Hammadi, Marketing Section Manager; and from Beit Al Khair Society side Mr. Abdullah Al Ustaz, Assistant General Manager and Mr. Mohammed Saleh, Deputy Director of Finance, in addition to a number of employees from both sides.
The MoU aims to launch two campaigns during this year’s first and second quarter. Donations from the first campaign will be allocated to supporting the elderly, in recognition and gratitude of their contribution to society. The second campaign will be launched in the second quarter, and will be dedicated to supporting the Ramadan Baskets and Iftar Ramadan projects.
“Our relationship with Union Coop goes way back, and it is constantly renewed with new initiatives and projects. We have joined hands to welcome the Year of Zayed with this initiative, dedicated to low-income and the less-fortunate families. We are confident that it will be positively received by the public, as our nation has a shining reputation in helping others.” Said Abdeen Taher Al Awadi, General Manager of Beit Al Khair Association.
On his behalf, Mr. Harib Mohammed bin Thani, Director of the Operations Division at Union Coop said: “We hope that this memorandum will crystallize the objectives of the Year of Zayed, announced by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. The initiative embodies good principles and values, the love of good doing and helping others, and to spread the love and work instilled in us by our Founding Father, the late, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.”
