Dubai, UAE:

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has honored Union Coop, the largest consumer cooperative in the UAE for its continued support towards the authority’s initiatives, most recently contributing to raising awareness among the community about the importance of participating in ‘Earth Hour’.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) honored Union Coop, represented by Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness and Marketing Department.

Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki said, “Supporting specific initiatives aimed at spreading environmental awareness and sustaining natural resources, represent the core values of Union Coop, which has always supported similar initiatives and help promote the awareness messages, especially the ‘Earth Hour’ message. Such message been communicated to the public through displaying the earth hour message via its in store screens, also by wearing t-shirts bearing the initiative’s logo by Union Coop’s staff, having the message printed on our eco-friendly shopping bags to reach maximum people and invite more participants.”

In a related context, Union Coop supported and participated in the Earth Hour global initiative by turning off the lighting of its staff accommodation during the earth hour.
