Union Coop Participates in International Food Trade Conference

The International Food Trade Conference titled “Roadshow” was held in the Republic of Uzbekistan and Union Coop was the only cooperative representing the Arabian Gulf

The largest Consumer Cooperative in the UAE, Union Coop participated in an economic, commercial and food conference in the Republic of Uzbekistan over two days, titled “Roadshow” as part of its keenness to participate in international conferences to exchange experiences and learn about global practices in the retail trade sector, and the most important achievements of the leading companies in the field of food and beverage trade.
The international conference, which was organized by Uzbek Orient Holding Company in cooperation with the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was attended by 80 companies and institutions specialized in trade from 20 countries including the UAE, Russia, Germany, Turkey, Spain and Chile, where Union Coop was the only cooperative representing the Arabian Gulf.
Mr. Yaqoob Al Balooshi, Fresh Category Trade Dept. Manager, Union Coop, who represented the retail pioneer, stressed that Union Coop is keen to participate in international conferences to learn about everything new in the food trade sector, pointing out that the conference, which was organized over two consecutive days from the eighth to the tenth of this December, aimed to present the latest technologies and modern agricultural methods, and the latest technologies in the food processing industries, and ensuring the sustainability and continuity of the flow of food commodities between the countries of the region.
He pointed out that Union Coop’s participation in the conference highlighted its efforts in the field of fresh food trade and ability to maintain its safety requirements to achieve sustainable development and support the food security system, and to identify the agricultural practices used globally, as well as highlighting the pioneering role of the cooperative as a destination for agricultural innovations in the region, which adopts innovative methods in hydroponics, to enhance its capabilities to be one of the marketing agencies for agricultural solutions and innovations in the UAE.
He highlighted that the conference shed light on the future of the agricultural sector in the Middle East and the world, which has become dependent on modern technologies and new innovations to meet the challenges of agriculture and climate change.
