On 27/8/2015, Union Coop organized a ceremony coinciding with “Emirati Women’s Day,” which was launched by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak «Mother of Emirates», Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, Supreme Chairperson of the Family Development Foundation, president of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood. During the ceremony she honored three distinguished women employees in recognition of their sincerity and dedication in work. To confirm the Society’s keenness to support the Emirati women, and to encourage them to achieve more achievements and dedication in various areas of work, the honoring was in the presence of a number of administration managers and staff.

On this occasion, His Excellency Khalid Humaid Bin Diban Al Falasi, General Manager of Union Cooperative Society, said in his speech made on his behalf by the Human Resources Department manager Mr. Ahmad Salem Bin Kenaid: “our celebration of ” Emirati Women’s Day, which was launched by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak« Mother of Emirates » is a honor of the Emirati women employees working in the Society , who have made important achievements in the work, and have contributed to advancing the development in various areas of work of the Society. To confirm the important role played by Emirati women in the cultural and economic renaissance and development of the State, as a strategic partner of the man in the sustainable development system, because she passed advanced stages and made important progress in various sectors, which reflected the vision of the wise leadership”
Al Falasi added: “Our beloved country under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, may God protect him, and his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, May Allah protect him, and their brothers their Highnesses Members of the Supreme Council of the Union, rulers of the Emirates, did not left any effort to pay the most attention and care to women’s issues, and to make important shifts and leaps in education, health and other sectors, which made these sectors to become a model on the global level. ”

He said that the “Union Cooperative Society did not ignore the importance of empowering women in various sectors and departments, because the Society believes in potentials and vital and strategic role of woman in creativity and innovation to upgrade the services provided by the Society to the public with a view to reach the top place at the local and international level, in the field of retail. He explained that the Society is currently including about 374 Emirati employees, of whom there are about 218 Emirati women employees in different sectors and departments. Female workers ratio in the Society shows its clear policy, and the insightful look in empowering the women, and developing their capabilities and skills to be used in achieving the goals of Society that contribute to raise high the name of the UAE. ”
Al Falasi presented the sincere appreciation and thanks to the sisters in the Union Cooperative Society for the efforts and brilliant ideas made by them to contribute to raising the level of services provided to the public and to develop the work system in the Society. He also thanked all employees in the Society, whether the administrators or staff for their continued efforts, to adopt the ideas and proposals that aiming to achieve new heights, and keep up with the requirements of the next stage.
For his part, Mr. Suhail Al Albastaki, Marketing and Communication dept. Manager, emphasized during the ceremony that “the role of women in any society is a key role that is contributing to the growth and renaissance of communities. She is the party who puts the first building block for the development of communities. So the poet said that « Mother is a school, if you prepared her, you will prepare a good nation ». Union Cooperative Society has never forgotten the importance of providing appropriate work environment, possibilities, material and moral support to her, in order to achieve greater achievements, and to effectively contribute to the development witnessed by the State. Our wise leadership has sought various ways to empower women in all fields, because it believes in the capabilities of women, and their importance in building, and construction of a modern state based on justice, equality, and respect.”

Al Bastaki said, “The Society has always been proactive in translating the directives of the leadership. The ceremony which we are holding today in our headquarters is an irrefutable proof to that effect. It is considered as an emphasis on the sound methodology adopted by the Society to empower women, being careful to highlight her efforts by showing her achievements and successes, and honoring her to promote the positive spirit and to motivate her to achieve more and more achievements “.
He explained that “honoring three female employees during the ceremony of the ” UAE’s Women’s Day ” for their dedication, and sincerity in work, comes within the framework of the keenness of the Society to support the UAE women, and to encourage them to more dedication in the work, in addition to the expression of loyalty and gratitude for the vital and important role played by the woman to serve her family, and her home country, in addition to the sacrifices and the great efforts made by her to serve the community”.

Al Bastaki, in his name, and in the name of all employees in the Society, congratulated and thanked the honored employees, who are: Eng. Madiya Ahmed Al Mari, Properties & Project Division Manager, Mrs. Maryam Ghuloom Al Balooshi, assistant for government affairs in human resources department, and Mrs. Fatima Ali Mohammed Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Officer in Communication & Social Service Section in Marketing & Communication Dept. , for the great efforts that contributed to achieving more successes, glittering in favor of the Society, to all employees for their dedication and working in spirit of one team.
