The Umm Suqeim Smart Branch of Union Coop, the largest consumer cooperative in the UAE, carried out a successful firefighting drill at its building. Held in cooperation with the Directorate General of Civil Defense-Dubai. The drill comes within the framework of the Union Coop commitment to train its staff to respond to emergencies and test the efficiency of systems and equipment at the branch to protect lives and property.

The evacuation drill began with the Dubai Police Operations Room receiving a report at 8:38 about a fire at the branch’s bakery which resulted in two injuries. The sirens went off and security staff started evacuating the people at the branch until civil defense teams and ambulances arrived. The civil defense and ambulance teams took 4 minutes after reporting the accident to arrive to the location. The evacuation plan was carried out according to the planned scenario, informing the police, civil defense, and other supporting bodies which were mobilized immediately, with participating police units dealing with the incident with a high degree of professionalism.

Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of the Happiness and Marketing Department at Union Coop, expressed his gratitude to the civil defense teams for their cooperation, high level of professionalism, precision in carrying out the drill according to the pre-set plans. He also praised the great efforts exerted by the Directorate General of Civil Defense to retain safety and security standards.
