Dubai, UAE:
The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai), in collaboration with Union Coop, has launched the “Back-to-School” initiative aimed at engaging families, especially children, in volunteer work by preparing school bags for students from underprivileged families. The initiative reflects the values of cooperation and generosity, while strengthening social belonging and community responsibility.
As part of the initiative, a dedicated station was set up where volunteers from families and children packed school bags with essential supplies. This humanitarian experience blended volunteerism with social awareness, coinciding with the upcoming back-to-school season.
200 students from Beit Al Khair Society benefited from the campaign.
Mr. Mohamed Al Hashemi, CEO of Union Coop, said: –
“We are proud to collaborate with GDRFA-Dubai in an initiative that allows children and families to experience hands-on volunteering experience, enhancing their social awareness and deepening their sense of responsibility. Such practical participation helps instill a culture of giving from an early age and reflects our commitment to supporting initiatives that directly address community needs.”
Lt. Col. Salem Bin Ali, Head of Social Responsibility Section, added: –
“This initiative embodies GDRFA-Dubai’s vision that humanitarian and volunteer work are key pillars in building a cohesive society. Involving children and families in such activities promotes positive values and creates generations that understand the importance of giving. We believe Dubai’s strength lies in the solidarity of its community, and this initiative is a living example of that.”
