Eid is followed by the holy month of Ramadan and since we are nearing to \u2018Eid\u2019 let\u2019s highlight some facts associated with the same:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 \u2018Zakat Al Fitr\u2019 is the term used for one of three types of food items (rice, dates, wheat) given to the poor people before the Eid Prayer. Money can also be donated instead of the mentioned food items. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eid is held to celebrate the conclusion of the Fasting period <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The name \u2018Eid\u2019 is a literal translation of the event being celebrated \u2018Festival of the Breaking of the <a href=\"https:\/\/corporate.unioncoop.ae\/en\/ramadan-and-fasting\/\">Fast<\/a>\u2019<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eid Al-Fitr begins upon the first sighting of the New Moon. Across the world, Eid al-Fitr starts at different times and even different days, depending on location<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eid Al-Fitr and Ramadan (Hijri calendar) varies from (Gregorian calendar) every year. Every year, you\u2019ll notice Ramadan is held at least 10 days earlier to the previous year. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eid Al-Fitr is typically a 1-day event. However, celebrations go for 3 days. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eid Morning is welcomed by Muslims with new clothes, Eid Prayer and Eid Greetings. Before leaving to perform morning prayers, Muslims after waking up, cleanse their bodies in a ritual called &#8220;ghusl.&#8221; In some regions, ladies decorate their palms with Henna patterns as well. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Gifts associated with the festival is known as \u2018Eidia\u2019 given to children and they usually are money. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">9.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Eid Al-Fitr is also known as \u2018Lesser Eid\u2019. The other is Eid al-Adha, the Festive of the Sacrifice or &#8220;Greater Eid.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">11. \u2018Eid Mubarak\u2019 or \u2018Have a blessed Eid\u2019, a common way of greeting. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span lang=\"EN-GB\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">Share with us on how you prefer celebrating Eid.
