As we bid adieu to the successful \u2018<i>Year of Zayed\u2019<\/i>, we embark on a new journey that sees the establishment of UAE as a global capital of \u2018tolerance\u2019 in the form of \u2018Year of Tolerance 2019\u2019. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">The United Arab Emirates today stands as a perfect example of tolerance and peaceful coexistence on a global scale, exemplified due to the embedded values of openness, acceptance and respect for religious and ethnic diversity. With an infinite commitment to protect the liberty of beliefs, UAE rejects discrimination, racism and many other negative sentiments. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE declared 2019 as the &#8216;Year of Tolerance&#8217;, which highlighted UAE as a global capital for tolerance. UAE, thanks to its legislative and policy-oriented goals, enhanced the role of the nation in imparting the values of peaceful co-existence locally, regionally and internationally. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\"> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-33933\" src=\"https:\/\/corporate.unioncoop.ae\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Tolerance.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"649\" height=\"430\" \/><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">As a response to the directives of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a Supreme National Committee for Tolerance was established to celebrate 2019 as the Year of Tolerance.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Let\u2019s explore the main FIVE pillars of Tolerance:<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;text-align: justify;color: #000000;font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif';font-size: 11pt;font-style: normal;font-weight: 400\"><b>First<\/b>, to deepen the values of tolerance and co-existence among cultures and peoples by concentrating on teaching the youth on the values of tolerance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;text-align: justify;color: #000000;font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif';font-size: 11pt;font-style: normal;font-weight: 400\">The <b>Second<\/b> pillar seeks to solidify the UAE as the global capital for tolerance, via a series of initiatives and projects specialized intolerance and dialogue between various cultures and civilizations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;text-align: justify;color: #000000;font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif';font-size: 11pt;font-style: normal;font-weight: 400\"><b>Third<\/b>, enacting multiple cultural programs and contributions to build tolerant communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;text-align: justify;color: #000000;font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif';font-size: 11pt;font-style: normal;font-weight: 400\">As for the <b>Fourth<\/b> pillar, a focus on legislative and policy-oriented objectives that contribute to mandating cultural and religious tolerance, via dialogue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;text-align: justify;color: #000000;font-family: 'Calibri','sans-serif';font-size: 11pt;font-style: normal;font-weight: 400\">Lastly, the <b>Fifth<\/b> pillar focuses on promoting tolerance and co-existence via targeted media initiatives and projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">It began on a positive note \u2013 <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">UAE started the Year of Tolerance on an auspicious note as the nation made history by welcoming \u2018Pope Francis\u2019 the head of the Catholic Church, the first papal visit to the Arab Peninsula. The pope was joined by Dr Ahmad Al Tayyeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar Al Sharif, who together passed a \u2018Human Fraternity Declaration\u2019 that conveys a message of peaceful coexistence among different faiths of all over the world. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"color: #000000;font-family: Calibri\">Highlights
